San Diego Airport to Tijuana Instructions

Travel from the San Diego Airport to the Border

We’ve got your transportation covered! Opt for our shuttle service from the airport for $60, and they’ll bring you directly to our clinic in Tijuana. Another option is Uber, which can pick you up at the airport for $25 and drop you off at the border. From there, you can walk across, and we’ll be there to meet you. And if you’re up for an adventure, public transportation is also available. Just follow the instructions below – it’s a budget-friendly choice at only a few dollars, and while it takes a bit more time, it’s straightforward to navigate.

01

Taking the 992 MST Bus

When you step out of the airport terminals, look for the bus stop area on the sidewalk. If you’re unsure, the information desk can help guide you. Have the right change ready, $7, as you board the bus. Place it in the box at the front. Request a day pass from the driver, covering both bus and train rides. Let the driver know you’ll be getting off at the American Plaza Trolley stop, which is downtown, a few blocks from the pier. The driver will also remind you. It’s an easy way to get around and explore.

02

Get on the Trolley, (electric train) to the border

After disembarking the bus, you’ll notice the trolley station across the street. The San Diego Trolley, a compact electric train with around 4 cars, arrives every 15 to 30 minutes. Choose the Blue Line marked “San Ysidro/Tijuana Border” and hop aboard. This train will take you to the final stop at the Tijuana border, a journey of approximately 30 minutes. It’s a straightforward and convenient ride.

03

Going to the border entrance

Upon disembarking the Trolley, start by giving us a call to notify your arrival, and we’ll arrange for the driver to pick you up. Then, follow the flow of people as they walk down the platform and turn left. You’ll come across signs pointing to “MEXICO.” Proceed through the turnstile gate and pass through customs. Have your US passport ready for inspection and complete a tourist permit form. For a week’s stay, there’s no charge, but you can opt for a 180-day permit for a nominal fee. This way, if you’re returning for additional treatment, you won’t need to stop at the immigration desk; simply present the tourist permit if asked.

04

Go to the pick-up point

Once you step out of the Customs building, just follow the flow of people and stroll down the sidewalk to the street. On the opposite side of the street, you’ll spot a building named “Farmacia Milenio.” Simply wait for the driver at that location.
